Our Story
Over the past two decades, I've learned that my clients don't lack willpower or desire to change: they lack the support and executive functioning skills that meal planning, movement, and other healthy lifestyle habits require.
The good news? These skills can be learned, and I'm here to provide the support.
I created Great Minds Nutrition to provide the kind of nutrition counseling that truly supports lifelong change. I got frustrated with the traditional model of Medical Nutrition Therapy, which bills for each session individually and offers limited covered hours by insurance. Visits felt rushed, and I was always unsure whether a patient would be denied and end up with a large bill. Nutrition therapy that produces lasting change includes a chance for clients to share their food and health story in full and receive personalized support, rather than a standard meal plan and lists of foods not to eat!
To solve this problem and offer the care I wanted to my patients, I decided to use a direct care practice model that includes an in-depth initial assessment with intake managed by both a Registered Nurse (Emily) and a Registered Dietitian (me, Kathryn), ongoing follow-up visits, and unlimited accountability check-ins, all for a flat monthly fee. This allows me to limit the number of clients I accept and build a nutrition practice made up of my favorite people. We provide nutrition care for most chronic diseases, such as Type 2 Diabetes, Hypertension, CHF, NAFLD, High Cholesterol, and Metabolic Syndrome. We also use an intra-individual approach to Weight Management. This means that we focus on acute or gradual changes in your specific weight rather than comparing it to a standardized measure like BMI. This approach keeps the focus on engaging in healthy behaviors and addressing underlying factors, rather than chasing a number that may not mean anything. On a GLP-1? Our services can help you establish the meal structure and lifestyle habits that may help manage side effects and maintain muscle mass.
I am certified in the ecSatter Adult Eating Competence and the Satter Division of Responsibility in Feeding models. We are a self-pay private practice, but accept HSA or FSA payments with a Letter of Medical Necessity. For 2026, our payment model is a flat $125/month fee with a year-long agreement, which includes an in-depth initial assessment, eight 30-minute follow-up visits, and unlimited accountability check-ins per year. In subsequent years, a continued maintenance plan is available for $35/month, which includes an annual assessment, two follow-up visits, and unlimited accountability check-ins. In addition, clients of Great Minds Nutrition are eligible for group classes and resource materials at a reduced or free rate.
I can't wait to begin working with you!
